Chads Valentines

So here it is February 11th already, and some of you know what that means...lol.  For the past six years (K-5) I have been making a special little boys Valentines for his classmates.  Chad and I come up with the theme for the Valentines and once that's done I go to work on them.  This year he wanted Creeper from the  Mine Craft Computer Game and wasn't sure what he wanted for the girls, he left that up to me.  So this is what I came up with for both.

The center 12 x 12 framed card is the original design. It is Chads Valentine from me.

For the boys it's  the Creeper Character roaming the world wishing everyone
 a Happy Valentines Day.

And for the girls I used a Digi Image from Saturated Canary and colored her with
my Copic Markers and added a bottle cap necklace to them.

This was the first project I have actually done with the Copics and love working with them.
Because of this project I have decided to take the  two day Standard and Intermediate Certification classes in Boston, Mass in March...I am so excited to be going.

Here's the results of my 1st coloring project

I know there's so much to learn about coloring and shading.  I actually sort of cheated
doing this project I only colored the 4 girls shown here, I then photo copied them
so I had what I needed.

Coco's Christmas Wish

I thought I would share a cute story with everyone.     Pictured to the right is my beautiful great niece Kaila and her puppy (baby) Coco.  My sister Joanna, and my niece Melissa (Kaila's mom) put Kaila up to helping Coco write a letter to Santa Clause telling him what she (Coco) wanted for Christmas. Keep in mind this was done as joke. Kaila showed me the letter Coco had her write because as we all know dogs can't write, but I guess they can talk...lol...all knowing that once I saw this letter I would get Coco something from her list.  Well Coco asked Santa for clothes, boots, and a coat. OK no problem Aunt Doe can do.  But then on her list is what she really wants A PINK PALACE DOG HOUSE and she knows it's expensive but this is really all she wants and she really doesn't need anything else if he brings her this.  Coco also goes on to say that her mommy has been saving for the house so if she got money for Christmas she would give it to mommy for her house. Coco being a very polite puppy thanked Santa for anything he brings her and wished him a Very Merry Christmas and told him she would leave cookies and milk out for him, and signed it with her paw print.

Well Aunt Doe (me) knowing that Kaila doesn't really ask for much (and not knowing this was done as a joke) and would go with out any Christmas presents for herself to get Coco this house does some searching on the Internet to find this house.  Success I found it on ebay for less than half of what the local pet store wanted for it and it was free shipping.  So Coco got her PINK PALACE DOG HOUSE.  To the right is Coco on her present waiting for help to open it.   I have to say honestly to see Kaila smile was worth any amout of money, because it was a suprise to her.

Domino Travel Book

I found these extra large domino's on a shopping trip to Absolutely Everything in Mass. and decided to use them to make my domino book for a swap I am participating in.
Here's what I did:

I used a old world map as the back round paper, and domino sized  (1" x 2") images from a collage sheet of several different countries to give my pages a travel theme.  I then fashioned a hinge from ribbon on the one side of the book and attached a small d-ring and ribbon as the closure on the other side.  I used Tim Holtz's Pewter Distress Stain to highlight the design on the dominos. 7 Gypsies metal photo corners and and a hanging crystal bobble, Tim Holtz's small Key Hole and one of Graphic 45's small Keys to adorn the book. I then added 3 small roses to the cover, which completed my book.

Christmas Paper Doll Swap with Character Construct Stamps

I recently decided to participate in 2 different swaps using  Catherine Moore's Character Construct Stamps that was posted in her Yahoo Group.  I've been a member of this group for about a year now but have not participated in any of their swaps to date. And since I have purchased several of her stamps I thought it was time to put them to use.....lol.  So here's what I made for the swaps...

This is for the Christmas Paper Doll Swap

To made her I used the French Laundry stamp No6 for the base of the skirt and Mannequin Cafe No14 stamp as the base for the head and bodice of the paper doll, I don't remember what the stamp name or number is for the shoes but it a character construct stamp.

I used Graphic 45's Nutcracker Suite Paper Line ( the 8'x 8" book ) for her skirt.

And Bo Bunny's 2011 Christmas Line of ribbons and trim for the top of her dress, her wrap and ruffles for the skirt.

Her hair is made from wool that I use for felting.

I so enjoy making this  doll, hope you enjoy her too.

This is the Fall Tag Swap

I used Character Construct French Laundry Stamps No12 and No15
Ranger Tag size 8 which I embossed to give it texture.
Her birds nest is made from jute that I unravled and then twisted
not sure of the makers of the eggs or the wooden birds.
I titled her "Saying Goodbye to Fall".
