Christmas Configuration Box

I took another class at my favorite scrapbooking store CAPTURED MOMENTS a couple weekends ago, it  took me approximately 8 hrs to complete my project over the span of   two days. I have to say this was another project I really enjoyed doing.

I started with the Tim Holtz small configuration box, there are 9 boxes that fit into the main box, I used six of the small boxes in my design. 

Next comes the task of covering the boxes with papers, I chose to use sheet music that had Christmas songs on the outside of the box (how appropriate)  and  Vintage Christmas papers on the inside.  

This is what my configuration boxes looked like, once I finished covering them with papers but before I started decorating the little boxes.

The next picture is a collection of some of the things I choose to use in decorating the boxes.  I decided to go with a Old World Christmas look.

Now comes the fun of decorating.

Once you get everything glued in place where you want it, you then put the cover on and can finish the outside of the decorating the outside.

I choose to put a simple gold cording around the closure of the box, I then mod podge the out side of the box to seal it and glued a set of Tim Holtz decortive legs on it.  I still have to put a decorative knob on it and want to do some little decorative work on the top, but haven't done that yet.  I will have to pull out my Christmas trinkets to see what I have so it will be finished.  I will post a picture onceI have  that done.

Shhhh .... Don't tell anyone but I think I heard Tiffany say there might be a HalloweenConfiguration Box in the works for the fall.....

Tribute to your Best Friend

Another of April's swaps for In My Vintage Room was A TRIBUTE TO YOUR BEST FRIEND....the only requirement for this swap was a picture of you and them.  My best friend is Debbie O'Neil Perry. Debbie and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember, we were about 3 maybe 4 when we met (we are now 58), we went through grammar school, Jr High , and pretty much spent all our time together.  There were a few years when my family moved from Colonie to Guilderland that we were not always in contact with each other but for us it seemed like those times didn't  matter, because when we were, we just picked up like we had seen each other the day before. We have always been there for each other through good times and bad.  Over the years I have seen Deb and Jerry's (her husband) 3 children grow up, get married and have children (3 granddaughter and 1 grandson).  It's truly an honor to say Debbie Perry is my Best Friend.

April LFB Swaps

Recently I participated in a swap with my art group In My Vintage Room the theme was YOUR FAVORITE POEM  it took me awhile to figure out what poem I wanted to use, but I finally decided on a poem I learned when I was in grammar school.  At that time, I think I just loved reciting the tongue tying words.  Although I can't recite the poem from memory I do remember bits and pieces of it, and I have to say it still is my favorite.  Jabberwocky by: Lewis Carroll

Never Enough Bunnies

Finally finished the bunnies for my sister's co-workers, the card club I belong to

 and for a couple of mom's nurses and aides at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home.

Theses cuties are made with a variety of  punches.

And a cello bag filled with assorted candies,

Sweaters I made for a friends twin girls...they came out so cute.

There made with basic granny sqares.

Captured Fairy

 I am so excited to share today's project with you.  I took a class called CAPTURED FAERIES at Captured Moments Scrapbooking Store in Rotterdam, NY where one of the owners Tara Burtt created these fantasy scape's that are just awesome....I was so amazed at how we all started with the pretty much the same materials and not one was alike even if the same color materials were used.

 This is the porcelain doll you start with.  Tara did all her prep work..pouring the slip (liquid clay) 3 kiln firings  (12 hrs for each firing) and the painting which is done in several stages. 

 I glued her together to start the process.

Dressing the fairy was a process of cutting the flowers petals apart and glueing to her body to form her clothes. She has transparent wings ad mohair hair which is all glued on.

Next once you are happy with her you start to build her landscapeing for her jar.

I have to say again this was really a awesome project not hard at all to do, thanks to all Tara's prep work.  I definitely will be making more of these.
